Privacy notice
This notice covers firstcull.io and the FirstCull beta waitlist. The app itself is local-first: the section “The app is local-first” below explains what that means in practice.
1. Who we are
Oliver Astrologo Ltd is the controller for the personal data described here. Reach us at hello@firstcull.io for anything about FirstCull, or at info@oliverastrologo.com for company matters.
2. What we collect and why

The consent wording currently in use is: “I want emails about FirstCull's launch, beta access and product news. I can unsubscribe at any time.” We use double opt-in: the address is only added once you click the link in a neutral confirmation email. We do not collect your name, company, or anything else — the form has one field.
3. Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser storage. There are no third-party embeds, no advertising pixels, no external fonts and no social-media trackers — which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a cookie banner.
If we later add audience measurement it will be a self-hosted, cookieless tool that records no persistent identifier; this notice will say so, and it will be simple to opt out. We will never add anything that requires consent without asking for it first.
4. Who we share it with
Email delivery is handled by our email provider acting as our processor, and the site runs on our own server at our hosting provider. Nobody else receives the list, and we never sell or rent it.
5. International transfers
Where a processor is outside the UK/EEA, the transfer relies on UK adequacy regulations or on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
Waitlist addresses are kept until launch plus twelve months, or until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion — whichever comes first. Unconfirmed signups are deleted after ninety days. Proxy logs rotate within thirty days.
7. Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time — every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and hello@firstcull.io reaches a human. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). If you are in the EU, you may complain to your local supervisory authority instead.
8. The app is local-first
- Your footage never leaves your machine. Scanning, culling, embeddings, assembly and timeline I/O all run on your Mac; media is indexed in place and never moved, copied, re-encoded or uploaded.
- Only text and selected frames are sent to AI providers. In bring-your-own-key mode they go directly to your provider account — our servers never see them.
- Audio is uploaded only for transcription, and only when you approve it. The app tells you before anything is sent, and temporary audio is deleted once the transcript lands.
- API keys live in the macOS Keychain — never in config files, never in the database, never on our servers.
- Crash reports are opt-in and scrubbed of file paths, transcripts and media before they are sent.
- Uninstalling removes everything — the app and two folders in your Library. Nothing is written next to your media.
9. Children
FirstCull is for professional use and is not directed at people under 18.
10. Changes
When FirstCull gains accounts, credits and billing, this notice will be extended to cover them before those features go live. Material changes will be announced to the waitlist.
